Planned Giving

Leaving a Bequest

A PADS dog can make a life-changing impact, and you can make a similar impact for years to come by remembering PADS in your will. Planned giving is simple to do, and often allows you to leave a larger gift than would be possible during your lifetime.

All legacy gifts will help to place life-changing assistance dogs with those who need them most. In return, your estate will receive an income tax receipt, which can then be used to reduce taxes payable on the estate’s final tax return.

Your gift can be anonymous if you’d prefer, or you can honour or memorialize yourself or a loved one. PADS can provide sample wording to include us in your new or existing will.

Types of Planned Giving to consider

A Specific Bequest allows for a particular item, property, or dollar amount to be bequeathed to PADS.

A Percentage Bequest allows for a fixed percentage to be gifted (e.g., 5 per cent of the value of the estate assets).

A Residual Bequest allows for the residual portion of assets to be donated after all other specific wishes are taken care of.

A Contingency Bequest allows for a gift through an estate only after a change in circumstances occur, whereby all other original named beneficiaries do not survive.
