Meet Blanco

What’s wonderful about Blanco

Blanco is a gentle, happy soul with a quietly joyful presence. He’s the kind of dog who thrives on companionship without needing to be the center of attention — happiest lying nearby, keeping you company while you go about your day. Blanco is house-trained, calm indoors, and has a beautifully balanced medium energy level. He enjoys being active outdoors and truly comes alive on trails, long walks, and adventures where he can stretch his legs and explore. He gets along well with other dogs, has done great with cats in sitter homes, and has been exposed to children of all ages. He’s not a big barker, travels well in the car, and does wonderfully with routine care like nail trims and brushing. He also happens to love water — enthusiastically so — and has excellent recall in off-leash settings, making him a lovely companion for the right outdoor-loving home.

Where Blanco Needs Extra Support

Like many sensitive hearts, Blanco does best when the world moves at a gentle pace. New environments or unfamiliar situations can make him feel unsure, and when he’s nervous, he may hesitate or move cautiously until he feels safe again. He has low confidence at times and benefits from patient reassurance rather than pressure. Blanco is also quite particular about his body — he doesn’t enjoy wearing clothing or gear and can be uncomfortable with too much hands-on affection, preferring closeness without constant touching. While he does well around children, he’s happiest when kids are old enough to understand and respect his boundaries. He would thrive most in a home where someone is around often, where trust can be built slowly, and where his need for space, predictability, and quiet companionship is deeply respected.

Home Requirements

Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Blanco alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.

A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.

Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Blanco is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
