Meet FINCH

What’s wonderful about FINCH

Finch is a determined, intelligent pup who’s been making incredible strides in her training and confidence. Since joining our advanced training program in November, she’s been shining with every new challenge. With a love for learning and a heart full of spirit, Finch is showing us every day just how resilient and special she truly is.

FINCH’S Strengths

Finch is amazing with dogs – she’s social, playful, and well-mannered around her four-legged friends. She’s also incredibly loyal to her circle. Once you’re “in,” you’ll have a devoted companion for life. Finch is great on leash most of the time, and has been working hard on loose-leash walking and staying focused around distractions. At home, she’s a joy—sweet, silly, and a professional sock thief!

WHERE FINCH NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT

Finch has a fear of strangers, including men, teenagers, and certain postures like crouching. She needs slow introductions and understanding from new people. She’s not a fan of walking on wet grass, gravel, or mud. When she sees someone or a dog she knows from a distance, she may bark and lunge out of excitement.

WHY FINCH IS SO SPECIAL

Finch is working through her fears with impressive dedication. She’s already made great progress with:

Recall training on off-leash walks
Handling distractions
(both canine and human)
Desensitization exercises to help her stay calm around triggering stimuli

Finch is a bright, eager learner who thrives in a structured environment with a patient adopter who will continue her training and celebrate her wins—big and small.

Home Requirements

Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Gamora alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.

A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.

Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Gamora is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
