Meet Golly

What’s wonderful about Golly

Golly is a calm, sensitive girl who thrives when she a job to do and a strong bond with her people. She may take a little time to warm up but once you’ve earned her trust, you’ll gain a loyal companion who will happily become your constant, furry shadow. Golly is happiest being near her family and quietly taking part in everyday life.

A true working dog at heart, Golly loves using her brain and is always eager to learn. She lives to please and flourishes when given opportunities to develop new skills. Whether it’s scent work, agility, flyball or another dog sport, Golly would love a home that continues to challenge her mentally and physically.

While Golly doesn’t mind spending time in water, she’s more of a wader than a swimmer, preferring to paddle around chest deep, quietly watching the waves flow by.

Golly has excellent leash manners, settles comfortably in her kennel and is always ready to join her people on their next adventure. Whether it’s a road trip, a training class, or a quiet outing together, Golly is an easy enjoyable companion who loves spending time with the people she trusts.

WHERE GOLLY NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT

Golly is a sensitive dog who can become overwhelmed in busy or unpredictable environments. She will do best in a calm, quiet home where her need for routine and down time is respected and she can feel safe and secure.

She can be nervous around small dogs, particularly small, vocal dogs, and may try to create distance from them. Her future family will need to manage introductions carefully and pay attention to her body language to help her build up comfort around other dogs.

While Golly is affectionate with people she knows and trusts, she is not the type of dog who immediately seeks attention from strangers. Building a relationship with her takes time, patience and consistency and she will do best with adopters willing to allow her to warm up at her own pace.

Because of her sensitive nature and tendency to become overwhelmed by high levels of excitement and activity, Golly would be best suited to a home without young children. She is looking for an adopter who will respect her boundaries, recognize when she needs support or a break, and help her build confidence in unfamiliar and stressful situations. In return, they’ll be rewarded with a one-of-a-kind, well-mannered, loving and devoted companion.

HOME REQUIREMENTS

Someone must be home for most of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Golly alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.

A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.

Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Golly is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles.
