Meet Lylie
What’s wonderful about Lylie
Lively Lylie is a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup who is looking for a family who loves adventure as much as she does. She thrives when she has plenty of opportunities for exercise, exploring, and enrichment, qualities that make her an excellent companion for an adventurous family.
Whether it’s a long walk, a short hike through the trails, or a road trip, Lylie always wants to be part of the action. Like many labs, Lylie is a water dog who enjoys swimming and kayak adventures with her people. A securely fenced yard where she can explore and play would be ideal for this fun-loving and lively girl.
At home, Lylie settles well in her kennel, rides nicely in the car, and enjoys playtime with the family. She has spent some time with children and teenagers and seems particularly curious about younger children, often wanting to pull towards them for a closer look and sniff.
WHERE LYLIE NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
Lylie is a social butterfly who enjoys making new doggy friends, but her enthusiasm sometimes needs redirection. She can become quite distracted when other dogs are around and may struggle to maintain focus on her handler. She is maturing nicely but can become excitable during greetings and may jump up and mouth people she knows well. She is looking for an adopter who will continue to work through her excitement and support her to stay focused around doggy distractions.
Lylie occasionally bunny hops while running or navigating stairs and can be hesitant when encountering new or unstable surfaces. While she enjoys bathing and brushing, she struggles with rear nail trims and having her hind paws and legs handled. She will need a patient handler willing to find ways to work through this. While veterinary examinations have not identified any medical cause for her bunny hopping or reluctance to have her hind legs and paws handled, it’s difficult to predict how this may change over time. She may remain symptom-free, or she may experience some discomfort as she ages. Her future family should be prepared to monitor her mobility and support her as needed, whether that’s through maintaining a healthy lifestyle, thoughtful exercise, or guidance from a veterinarian.
For the family willing to embrace her playful personality, social nature, and ongoing enrichment and training needs, Lylie will reward them with endless affection, laughter, and unforgettable adventures. She is a sweet dog with a big heart who is ready to find her forever home with a family who will help her thrive.
HOME REQUIREMENTS
Someone must be home for most of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Lylie alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Lylie is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that she may not be used by other agencies for other working roles.
