Meet ORBIT
What’s wonderful about Orbit
Orbit is an absolute bundle of joy! Full of enthusiasm, adventure, and an infectious zest for life, she’s always ready to dive into whatever comes next with a wagging tail and a heart full of excitement. Orbit thrives when she’s with her people, and her love for them is unmistakable. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch or sharing a quiet moment, she’s devoted to her humans and always eager to be by their side. While her excitement can build quickly, Orbit has made progress in learning how to stay composed, especially with her humans guiding her. She’s really starting to shine as she matures, and the calm, cooperative side of her personality is becoming stronger every day. She settles well at home once there is a predictable routine established. One of Orbit’s greatest strengths is how beautifully she’s adapted to sharing her home with a cat! The two have formed a special bond and often snuggle together when the humans are busy. Of course, Orbit’s playful side comes out from time to time, and she might nudge the cat into a game of chase, but her bond with her feline friend is genuine, and they get along wonderfully. She’s an amazing companion for anyone who loves a dog full of spirit, heart, and a willingness to grow alongside their human.
WHERE ORBIT NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT
Orbit is a very high energy dog who can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. Her puppy raisers have made great strides in teaching Orbit how to return to a calm state, but she is still a high velocity dog. Orbit’s team have been working hard on a comprehensive training plan that encourages calmness and teaches boundaries, and Orbit would do best in a home committed to this ongoing training and meeting Orbit’s need for activity. She is easily overexcited when meeting other dogs, and will often lunge, pulling strongly on the leash. To address this, her handler has been working diligently to retrain her responses, using calm techniques to redirect her focus. Orbit is not a dog for a first-time dog owner, she requires an experienced handler who can understand her needs and continue to provide consistent training. With the right environment and approach, Orbit has the potential to thrive and build a strong, trusting bond with her owner.
Home Requirements
Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Orbit alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.
A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.
Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Orbit is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
