Meet Ripto

What’s wonderful about Ripto

This big-hearted boy is the perfect mix of outdoor adventurer and cuddle-bug. He’s always eager to head out the door for a walk, whether it’s a quick stroll around the block or a long hike in the woods—he’s even happily conquered 8 miles with a wagging tail and big smile! Off leash, he’ll roam with curiosity but never strays too far, always circling back to check in. If there’s water nearby, he’s the first one to dive in for a splash, and he makes an excellent passenger in the car, riding calmly and ready for wherever the day leads. At home, his silly, affectionate side shines through: he’s the type who leans in for scratches, sprawls across his bed for belly rubs, and always makes time for his evening snuggles. Ripto has very nice house manners and the ability to settle when left home for a few hours. He has a love of toys and training games, like a true lab! Ripto is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into daily life while adding plenty of joy along the way.

WHERE RIPTO NEEDS EXTRA SUPPORT

Of course, like any big personality, he comes with a few quirks that just add to his charm. He has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it, sometimes barking at new or unexpected sounds, and his enthusiastic greetings can turn into bouncy hops if you don’t remind him of his manners. Ripto has shared his home with other dogs and can feed off of their energy, he will join in the orchestra if the other dogs decide to bark! Children, with all their energy and squeals, are especially exciting for him, so a home with older kids or adults would be the best fit. He’ll thrive most in a quieter, detached home where he isn’t constantly surrounded by noise, and with people who can smile at his goofy moments while helping him settle. With his mix of adventurous spirit and snuggly affection, he’s ready to be someone’s loyal sidekick—from long days on the trail to cozy nights on the couch, he’s happiest when he’s right by your side.

Home Requirements

Someone must be home the majority of the day. As with all PADS dogs that have spent their lives in the full-time company of their raisers, the living situation must accommodate not leaving Ripto alone at home for more than 4 hours/day.

A stable home environment is required. This includes regular exercise, grooming, veterinarian care, food, as well as other necessary supplies and equipment.

Released PADS dogs do not have public access, meaning they are not allowed to enter malls, restaurants, hotels, or shops that are not pet friendly. They are only permitted to go to public locations that are pet dog friendly. Before releasing a dog from our program, PADS evaluates each dog for other working careers. Ripto is not eligible for any other working career. Therefore, one of the conditions of adoption is that he may not be used by other agencies for other working roles (some exceptions may apply depending on the reasons of release, such as volunteering as a pet visitation dog).
