CLIENT

EMERGENCY FUND

The Client Emergency Fund is a vital resource designed to support PADS clients facing unexpected veterinary emergencies with their assistance dogs. These dogs are more than pets; they are essential companions providing critical assistance to individuals with disabilities and community care professionals. The health and well-being of these service dogs are paramount, ensuring they can continue to perform their life-changing duties.

Veterinary emergencies can be financially burdensome, often placing a significant strain on clients who might already be managing other expenses related to their disability. The Client Emergency Fund alleviates this burden by offering financial assistance, ensuring that no client has to face the difficult decision of compromising their service dog’s care due to cost constraints.

By providing a structured and sustainable funding model, the Client Emergency Fund ensures that financial support is readily available when needed. Clients can either set up a fundraising page to cover veterinary expenses or agree on a manageable monthly donation plan, contributing to a self-sustaining cycle of support.

This fund not only safeguards the health of service dogs but also fosters a sense of community and mutual aid among PADS clients, volunteers, and supporters. It embodies the spirit of compassion and solidarity, ensuring that every PADS service dog and their handler receive the care and support they need to thrive together.

TEAM QUIXLEY

In 2022 one of our working Service Dog Teams, Eli and PADS Quixley, urgently needed help. During a layover in Boston on their way home to Vancouver, Quixley became gravely ill with an infectious disease attacking his liver. After initial treatment at the Veterinary Emergency Center in Manchester, NH, Quixley was transferred to the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University for specialized care.

The ordeal was traumatic for both Eli and Quixley, and the emergency treatment costs exceeded $12,000 USD. The PADS Client Emergency Vet Care Fund was created to support situations like this, ensuring Quixley got the best care.

Recent Update from Eli: “I want you to know that you taking the time out of your day to donate funds, or even just share posts on social media, really made a massive impact in relieving both the financial and emotional load I was bearing, and ultimately saved Quixley’s life. YES – without your help, we would not have survived this ordeal. You are truly life savers.”
