OVERVIEW

Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) is seeking a Coordinator, Adoptions & Fundraising  to join our team in Burnaby! At Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS), we’re dedicated to changing lives, one dog at a time. We’re looking for a passionate and skilled individual to join us as Coordinator, Adoptions & Fundraising, helping us fulfill our mission of providing assistance dogs to our waiting clients.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Manager, Fundraising (AB), the Coordinator, Adoptions & Fundraising (“Coordinator”) will play a pivotal role in ensuring dogs released from PADS’s training programs are placed in a perfect forever home. The Coordinator will review applications and meet with prospective adopters before making the match. Additionally, the Coordinator will provide support to the Fundraising team, working to support fundraising campaigns and appeals, as well as donor stewardship and recognition. This role is best suited to someone who likes to work on many different projects throughout the year; has exceptional communication skills (verbal and written); is a natural collaborator; and who has significant attention to detail.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Adoptions  

  • Create dog biographies for the website 
  • Collaborate with Service Dog team members for additional background 
  • Update the adoptions workbook in the CRM at every step of the process 
  • Review and vet applications for adoption 
  • Arrange a meet and greet/home visit with the adopter(s) 
  • Work with a dedicated volunteer team who will undertake home visits 
  • Prepare and distribute adoption statistics as needed  
  • Provide and explain paperwork requirements  
  • Arrange for payment of adoption fees  
  • Review program for process improvements and ensure all policies and procedures are review and updated regularly 
  • Coordinate final placement of the adopted dog  
  • Conduct 30-day check-in  

Fundraising support  

  • Process online donations, including from third-party platforms (Canada Helps, Benevity etc) 
  • Provide updates to puppy and dog sponsors as directed  
  • Prepare and send thank you letters, cards and emails  
  • Undertake donor thank you calls  
  • Assist with list building and donor circle updates  
  • Assist with drafting articles for the donor newsletters  
  • Undertake prospect research and prepare briefing notes  

Other         

  • Attend and participate in bi-weekly team meetings  
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders  
  • Assist with PADS fundraising and community events, as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience working in the non-profit sector   
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a busy and at times, noisy work environment

EDUCATION & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education considered a strong asset 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn additional basic software programs and platforms   
  • Valid BC Driver’s License, at a minimum level of Class 5  
  • Experience with Salesforce considered an asset  

WORKING CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION

Location: Burnaby, BC
Employment Type: Full-time 
Work Arrangement:Based at our Burnaby Campus in a standard office setting, hybrid work a possibility.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, with the requirement of working one evening per week, and occasional additional evenings and weekends. 

Compensation: $55,000 based on a 37.5 hour work week. A benefits package is available after the 3-month probation period.
