Digital Engagement and Events Coordinator Intern| Position Filled

The Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) is changing lives, one dog at a time. We are dedicated to breeding, raising, training and placing assistance dogs for persons with a physical disability or who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, and to supporting these client and dog teams for the working life of the assistance dogs. PADS is based in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia, Canada. Our team of employees, Board members, and volunteers is passionate about giving persons a “new leash on life” with assistance dogs who will help to give clients greater independence and a better quality of life.

PADS is seeking an 8-week summer student (37.5 hrs/week) through the Canada Summer Jobs program for the role of Digital Engagement and Special Event Coordinator Intern.

The Digital Engagement and Events Coordinator Intern provides a variety of communication-based services to PADS. They work collaboratively with the Communications Team, other PADS staff, and volunteers across the organization to create compelling digital content and help organize and coordinate several major events that happen over the summer.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications & Development Team on a variety of communication activities, including event planing.
  • Assist in the coordinating event logistics, venues and supplies.
  • Preparing and distributing online volunteer sign-up sheets, writing material to orient volunteers to their role at an event, communicating with volunteers if their responsibilities or the event plan changes.
  • Providing a safe, quiet place for volunteers with dogs to go during events if their dogs are ‘over threshold’.
  • Ensure proper cash handling and donation procedures are followed before, during and after events.
  • Preparing a post-event report that can be consulted in future years in order to improve the event.
  • General office and administrative tasks as assigned.

DIGITAL CONTENT

  • Responsible for PADS social media management including content creation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Research and implement content recommendations for organic SEO success.
  • Optimize existing copy and landing pages for SEO.
  • Perform ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Education or relevant experience in a related discipline (marketing, communications, or business administration)
  • Have strong time management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Articulate and receptive in communicating, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be familiar with multiple technology platforms and a willingness to learn new software.
  • Efficiently use of Macs, PCs, the Internet, MS Office and WordPress.
  • Manage tasks to achieve measurable outcomes.

COMPENSATION

This position pays $20.31/hr.
