ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis (Ktunaxa), Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce (Stoney), Niitsítpiis-stahkoii ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ (Blackfoot / Niitsítapi ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ), Tsuut’ina & Michif Piyii (Métis) Nations, and the Syilx Okanagan People.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

We train life-changing dogs for incredible people with disabilities & community care professionals.

We’re going back to PADS basics and today we’r We’re going back to PADS basics and today we’re spotlighting our incredible Accredited Facility Dogs!

PADS Accredited Facility Dogs, or AFDs, work with community care professionals to support healthy communities. Their work often involves supporting vulnerable people in places such as schools, victim services, child and youth advocacy programs, and hospices. They can also work to support people in high-stress occupations, such as paramedics and first-responders. Unlike a service dog who will give life-changing support to one client throughout their career, AFDs support many people and often leave their pawprints on hearts far and wide 💙

🐶 Pupdate: Meet PADS Blanco! Blanco is a 7-mon 🐶 Pupdate: Meet PADS Blanco!

Blanco is a 7-month-old PADS pup in training. Recently, he's been working hard at settling as he attends UBC with his raiser! He's quite the adventurous pup, heading out on road trips, learning to paddle board, and visiting the Whitecaps FC training centre (did we mention he's named after @brianwhite_24?). Blanco loves his PADS pals, and his brother, Taj. He's also just learnt that he quite likes to swim.

Blanco is waiting for a sponsor to help further his training — and he’s not the only one!
Many other puppies are also counting on community support to become life-changing assistance dogs.
If you'd like to support him, visit the link in our bio 🔗

We’re going back to PADS basics and today we’r We’re going back to PADS basics and today we’re spotlighting mobility service dogs and the life-changing work that they do 🐕‍🦺

PADS mobility service dogs support people with physical disabilities by performing physical tasks. Their skills include opening and closing doors, pushing elevator and crosswalk buttons, retrieving items (they are Retrievers, after all), among others. Not only that, they often provide a greater sense of independence for their partners, as well as the companionship that only a canine can!
