For the Puppies, and for the People
What better way to thank a puppy raiser than with a puppy? Meet PADS Ali, and learn how she ended up with such a perfect name.
Raising a service dog is a volunteer role like no other. Welcoming an 8-week-old puppy into your home and caring for, loving, and supporting it until the time it enters Advanced Training takes an incredibly special kind of person.
Sarah is that kind of person. She’s currently raising her third PADS puppy, having previously raised Tope and Golly and now raising Cruiser.
And her support of PADS goes beyond puppy raising. When we needed a place to hold puppy classes in Burnaby back in Spring 2023, Sarah found a solution. She tapped into her community and connections and arranged for PADS to use a covered, heated outdoor space at her workplace.
When we moved into our new Training Arena last month, we wanted to show our appreciation for Sarah’s ongoing support. And what better way to thank a puppy raiser than with a puppy?
We asked Sarah to name our latest import from our friends at Warrior Canine Connection. She obliged, and her choice came with a heartwarming story.
“I know the WCC pups are all named after military personnel,” shared Sarah. “My dad, Alastair, was a Staff Sergeant in the UK military for 52 years, retiring last year.”
So, meet PADS Ali, named in honour of Sarah’s dad, Alastair.
