MEET TEAM Blair

PTSD service dog Blair has been a dream come true for her new partner, Janis. Read about her impact, in Janis’s own words.

“Dear PADS,
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I can hardly find the right words to express what it means to me that you have devoted so much time, love, and effort to raising and training this extraordinary PTSD Service Dog, Blair.  My life began again , from the moment Blair arrived home and into my heart. It is a dream come true, and in so many ways, a lifeline.
As a first responder living with PTSD, the road has too often been dark, frightening, and isolating. And now, with Blair by my side, I finally feel a sense of hope and comfort that I haven’t felt in a very long time. Her gentleness, sweetness, and sensitive spirit that came across within the first two minutes of meeting her – didn’t appear by chance—they were nurtured and loved into being by PADS!
Blair is deeply cherished—not just as a service dog, but as a companion, a kindred spirit, and a quiet guardian who will help me find steadiness in the world again and make my life bigger and enable me to participate in it again with her at my side.
She’s a true Vancouver Island girl—a groovy beach dog whose days are filled with ocean air, sandy paws, and adventures along the beach directly across our road. I’ll make sure she feels the freedom and joy of island life, while carrying with her the grounding love she has received from the very beginning at PADS.
You have not only given me a trained service dog—you have given me a chance at healing, independence, and joy. For that, I will be forever grateful.  Thank you to everyone at PADS who cared for and supported Blair along the way – her breeder caretakers, raiser, sitters, trainers and donors.
With deepest appreciation and endless gratitude for raising this butterscotch life saver who will truly be saving mine,
From Janis and Blair”
