MEET TEAM GLISTEN

PADS Glisten has slipped seamlessly into her new role as an Accredited Facility Dog at the BC CDC. Read all about her impact from her partner, Ali.

Team Glisten

“Our clinic has a new favourite teammate! Gentle Glisten joined me in early April and it has been such an adventure getting to know her and work alongside her. She has been exceedingly patient while I have learned the ropes of working with her.

Patients are fawning, and staff can’t stop smiling when they see her trotting down the halls; I’m so grateful to have such a stunning, cheerful partner to help me care for my patients. In an exceedingly difficult season for our healthcare team, staff have remarked about how her mere presence at work ‘brings joy and hope’ and ‘seeing her is worth showing up at work for’.

Patients have shared: ‘wow! I cannot believe there is a dog working here now! It makes rushing here and navigating parking so worth it!’ And ’she is such a healing presence’.  And my new favourite reply ’she is truly the best medicine’.

When she’s not busy spreading comfort at work, Glisten has slipped seamlessly into our family (and our hearts), and joins us on all of our adventures. Whether it’s walks in the forest, visiting the beach, or just snuggles. Glisten’s playful and compassionate nature is a welcome energy and our kids greet her with glee when we come home from work daily.

I am so excited to see ALL that Glisten will continue to bring to our clinic patients and staff team as we continue to partner in providing the most therapeutic, grounding, and compassionate care that we can.

I am SO grateful to PADS (and particularly to staff members: Margaret, Val, and Jade) for their time, love, and investment into Glisten and their patience and support during my training. Thank you for entrusting this gem of a soul to partner with me in my work.
