Meet Team Lady II
A Transformative PartnershipLady’s impact on my life has been transformative. She bounds into each day with confidence and drive, bringing so much joy and positivity to my world. As a first-time service dog handler, I wasn’t quite sure where to set my expectations, but every time we go out, I’m reminded of her amazing personality and willingness to work.
Reaching the year mark of her placement, it’s odd to think we’ve only known each other this long. Our compatibility is evident, and both of us have become experts on each other. When I need something, Lady almost knows before I ask and takes the initiative to complete the tasks I need. On the flip side, I know where to provide support, allowing our interactions to be very fluid.
Having Lady to assist me—especially when we’re out—has given me the ability to participate confidently in all aspects of my life. There’s something special about having a dog that finds so much joy in assisting with the tasks I find most challenging. Every time I ask for help, Lady embraces it with an exuberant wag. This has greatly reduced the burden of needing assistance, allowing me to interact with the world without always requiring outside aid. People get to know me as a person before being flooded with my needs, and that has been invaluable.
When Lady is off the job, she’s an absolute goof. We spend lots of time on accessible trails and beaches, exploring all the outdoors has to offer. Lady loves a good free run or swim. She’s a social butterfly, and we’ve connected with a great group of fur friends to explore with.
I feel so, so grateful for everything the PADS community has given me. Every individual has had an impact on creating a world where Lady and I have the opportunity to work together. It’s evident how much time, patience, and effort have gone into every detail of the process and the dogs themselves. That is an indispensable gift.
Thank you! – Dez, PADS Service Dog Client
