MEET TEAM Silky II

November 28, 2024: A day to remember

“On November 28, 2024 my life changed in the best and most unexpected way.ย

This is the day I received Silky II. I cannot thank PADS enough for bringing Silky into my life. Service Dog Silky II is trained in PTSD. I was a police officer for 26 years. I was diagnosed with PTSD in early 2019 and retired in 2022. Silky came into our home and the transition was so natural it was as if she had been with me for 10 years. After only having Silky forย threeย months, it has been life changing, not only for myself, but for my spouse as well.

The attention and companionship that Silky offers every day is truly amazing. Silky never takes her eyes off of me, no matter where I go, even when we are just at home. The PADS training is absolutely remarkable and due to this, my quality of life both at home and out in public is greatly improved. We go together downtown almost daily into stores, restaurants, medical appts, and to run regular errands. There are many opportunities to educate the public about PADS and Silky as a Certified Service Dog.

Once again, a huge thanks to PADS, and all those volunteers who shared in the care and training of Silky II and everyone associated with this incredible organization. Going forward I will look for ways to contribute to PADS. You truly are changing lives, one dog at a time.”
