ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

With the arrival of spring, we thought for the first #WellnessWednesday of the season, we would remind you to take some time and do something that makes you feel happy today! 🌷

🐾 For us, it's getting outside for a walk with our pups and some friends that brings us the most joy.

😁 What did you do to take care of yourself and find your smile today? Tell us in the comments or tag us in your stories!

Today is #InternationalDayOfHappiness, created by the UN in 2015 as a way to recognize the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.

😁 We like to think that our PADS puppies help to spread happiness in the world wherever they go, and in the words of Charles M. Schulz (the creator of Snoopy and a huge supporter of assistance dogs), "Happiness is a warm puppy".

Happy International Day of Happiness from all of us at PADS. #PADSDogs

Join us on Tuesday, March 21st at 1:00 PM PDT for Tune-In-Tuesday featuring one of our Accredited Facility Dog Teams at the Vancouver Police Department – Michele and PADS Zen.

Cst. Michele McKnight of the VPD Employee Wellness Unit will share with us how PADS Zen helps in her work to support the staff at the VPD, as police officers are at a higher risk of stress, anxiety and depression due to the nature of their work.

For #FunFactFriday we are sharing that PADS was the very first ADI (Assistance Dogs International) accredited school in Canada! We received this distinction back in 2002 and go through a rigorous reaccreditation process every five years.

❤️ Our accreditation with ADI is something that we are enormously proud of, so proud in fact that our new vests all have the ADI logo on them! Our hope is that the more people see this logo on our dogs, the more they will learn to recognize it as the mark of exceptionally well-trained assistance dogs.
