Name a Puppy!

This little beauty is being donated to PADS by our friends Lauren & Cory at Denzil’s Goldens.

Little Miss no-name is a female Golden Retriever. Over 200 names were suggested by PADS Facebook Fans!

While there were so many wonderful suggestions, we had to eliminate some to make voting manageable, and to exclude names that are currently in use (by other PADS dogs or past breeding dogs) and any that might be confusing.Β  For example D’or which means gold is lovely but sounds just look “Door” which is a command.

It’s TIME TO VOTE!

Pick your favourite name from
those listed below and VOTE.

($1 = 1 Vote.Β  $25 donation would be 25 votes.)

and get your friends to vote for it too!

The name with the most votes will be this sweet little girl’s name!

SKY

When you get a beautiful gift you look to sky and count your blessings.Β  The future is endless for her and as the sky is endless.

Simi is suggested in honour of the Similkameen River, which runs from southwestern BC (her new home) to Oroville, WA (her birthplace).

INDIE

For the Independence she’s going to give someone someday!

LILO

Lilo means “Generous One” — something PADS dogs so often are!Β  It’s also the name of the spunky, happy little girl in Disney’s movie “Lilo & Stitch”

RILEY

Riley means “Valiant One” and while she’s still small, she will do a valiant job one day!

EVIE

In honour of PADS’ ardent supporter E.V. (Billie) Mitchell’s 100th Birthday.

BEY

Short for BeyoncΓ©, suggested along with a fun story about puppy naming! Read more on Bey’s voting page.

SHILO

Shilo means “a gift” which this puppy will be for someone.Β  It also means “Peace” in African and our world could surely use more peace in it!

HOPE

PADS Dogs bring hope to their future clients.Β

Wonderful Name Suggesters — Please Note

While there were so many wonderful name suggestions (over 200!!), we shortlisted to make voting more manageable using the following rationale:

  1. exclude names that are currently in use (by other active PADS dogs or past breeding dogs);
  2. exclude names that are extremely popular people names (confusing for a client named Bella to get a dog named Bella);
  3. eliminate any that might be confusing (for example D’or which means gold is lovely but sounds just look “Door” which is a command);
  4. finally, the PADS staff reviewed all remaining names and voted on their favourites to come to the list you see here.

Where a “full name” and “nick name” were suggested, we use the nicknames with a nod to the full name in the description, this is done to ensure that the dog gets called the same name consistently and there is no confusion created with record keeping or emergency management.
