Recognizing Deaf Awareness Month with Team Tahsis
Update on Team Tahsis!
Last holiday season, we introduced you to Sarah-Kate and her Hearing Dog, PADS Tahsis. As PADS’ final client placement of 2024, Sarah-Kate’s story touched many hearts. This Deaf Awareness Month, we’re delighted to share an update on how this remarkable team is doing.
Observed each September, Deaf Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize the experiences, contributions, and achievements of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, while also promoting greater understanding, accessibility, and inclusion. It is a reminder that access to communication, safety, and independence can make a profound difference in people’s everyday lives.
This past summer, Sarah-Kate and her family had a photoshoot and graciously shared some of the images with us here at PADS, along with a note that read:
“PADS is the most phenomenal charity, and I hope these photos bring a smile to you, knowing that Tahsis is so loved.”
The photos beautifully capture the bond between Sarah-Kate and Tahsis, a partnership that continues to bring confidence, security, and greater independence to Sarah-Kate’s daily life. From alerting her to important sounds to providing peace of mind at home, Tahsis helps Sarah-Kate navigate the world with greater ease and freedom.
As we recognize Deaf Awareness Month, stories like Sarah-Kate’s remind us that accessibility is about more than assistance. It is about confidence, independence, safety, connection, and the freedom to live life more fully.
