ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis (Ktunaxa), Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce (Stoney), Niitsítpiis-stahkoii ᖹᐟᒧᐧᐨᑯᐧ ᓴᐦᖾᐟ (Blackfoot / Niitsítapi ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ), Tsuut’ina & Michif Piyii (Métis) Nations, and the Syilx Okanagan People.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Today is International Volunteer Day! We’re incredibly lucky to have a volunteer community of over 700 kind, caring, passionate individuals. From breeder-caretakers, puppy-raisers, and sitters, to campus helpers and event volunteers, we’re so grateful to experience the magic of this amazingly supportive community.

PADS truly wouldn’t be what it is without our volunteer community. Thank you for all that you do 💛

🐶 Pupdate: Meet Bowden!

Bowden is one of our dogs in assistance dog training, where he's been described as 'the best boy,' 'an amazing student,' and 'a gem to train.' Whether he's working on skills at the Training Center or out and about on field trips, Bowden always brings focus and enthusiasm to his training. He loves a field trip (especially to the ice rink) and he's been working hard on all the specific skills he'll need as an assistance dog. He's also mastered the essential skill of 'puppy dog eyes.'
