Viking II is being raised and trained to provide life-changing independence to someone with a physical disability other than visual impairment or to work with a professional such as a teacher, psychologist or victim services worker to help support a healthy community.

Viking II has been chosen to spend a “semester abroad” at Medicine Hat College (MHC) in Alberta.  MCH offers a Service Dog & Canine Studies Management Diploma, which includes raising a service-dog-in-training. For the past few years, we have hosted practicum students from MHC who worked closely with our advanced training department as part of their Diploma. That relationship has expanded to include us sending a limited number of puppies to MHC to be raised by their students. We have had extensive conversations with them about the pups training, medical care, and welfare, and are excited about this new initiative. We will receive regular updates on their progress throughout their time in the program, and the puppies be returned to PADS at around 14 months old to to complete their training with us.

It truly takes a village to raise a puppy, and you can be part of Viking II’s village and receive monthly updates about him — donations raised through this page support the care and training of healthy, happy puppies. Help support Viking II today.
