Dear Diary,

I can’t believe tonight is the last night at my holiday resort. I have been so busy. I’ll do my best to tell you some of my highlights.

When I first met my host family, we went for a big walk, and then I checked out my new bed and got as many pets and snuggles as I possibly could. Then we went on a BIG adventure. I got to go to the Calgary Saddledome, and I got to see a Calgary Hitmen hockey game. It was so much fun. It was a chilly night, so I was thankful we didn’t have to line up outside – we were able to walk in, and after they did some scanning thing with their phones, I sat and waited until I was able to walk through the security detector. I barely even noticed what was going on as I was doing my best work. There were a lot of people, and I kept hearing people say, β€œOh wow, look at that working dog – she’s so focused and beautiful,” I took these comments to heart, and I lay on the floor during the game. Sadly, the Hitmen didn’t score, so there wasn’t a lot of cheering, but there was music and some weird-looking dude who was dressed up and kept banging a drum. I wasn’t sure about him, but when I checked in with my host – she assured me it was safe, so I put my head back down.

My host family seemed to like sports, so the next day, they weren’t moving super fast in the morning, so I enjoyed some more snuggles. Then, we set off on a five-hour adventure to the hockey rink. We hung out at the rink while some of the family played ball hockey. I was such a good girl, and everyone kept saying, β€œShe’s a beauty, and she’s working so hard,” There were lots of bangs against the boards, but honestly, it didn’t bother me at all. I spent some of our time lying on the bleachers and some on the floor. It was a pretty fun day.

I saw some squirrels and bunnies, and I did not move a muscle to chase them. We went for lots of walks and I saw dogs and people and even watched some birds. I was such a good girl!

One morning, we went for a fun adventure. We went to a private and fenced-off leash park, and I got to see my brother!!! And another beautiful dog whose mum is also Jazz. It was so much fun. There were so many smells, and I enjoyed the fun of roaming free, all while knowing I was safe. Whenever I was called – I came right away and would sit, and patiently wait for a reward. It was a great day.

Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that I also went to dog class. We worked on settling, and while it looked easy, I worked hard and was successful! I love going to class!

I went on daily walks and spent another afternoon at the ball hockey rink. I loved curling up my comfy dog bed, and it was great to spend some time chewing my bone.

I spent the last bit of my resort stay – lying low because I went into heat. I enjoyed all the snuggles I could get.

I thoroughly enjoyed my new friends and all our adventures.

Love

Billie
