Happy Birthday, Canada! July was a great month for lots of firsts!

Billie was honoured to be a part of the Invermere Canada Day Parade, along with the Invermere Pickleball Club, which supported the one-day Paddle for PADS tournament in June. The parade was a little overwhelming for a small pup, but Billie was a crowd pleaser and did her best to loose leash walk with all the people, noise and excitement.

The Calgary Stampede was another big evening in Billie’s young life. She attended a Stampede breakfast hosted by the Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta. She enjoyed hanging out with the family, meeting people, and watching the sailboats and ducks swim by.

Later in the week, Billie went downtown for lunch during the Stampede. Besides meeting more people and seeing the downtown lunch activities, Billie rode the C-Train both ways, and she worked on ‘go in’ and lying down duration. Billie was very interested in the many sights and sounds of downtown and train life, but she did a great job working through all the challenges presented.

Billie had an overnight stay with Samantha, a PADS sitter, who took Billie to work in her office. This gave Billie exposure to a new environment and maybe a glimpse into her future assistance dog life.

When Billie wasn’t experiencing noisy places and crowded spaces, she was at the cabin and beach. She enjoys being by the water and having free time to meet and play with other dogs. She can swim but is cautious going into the water. Billie enjoyed being on the motorboat and paddling around on a SUP.

Billie is comfortable with the following: sit, stay, wait, here, this way, off, perch, kennel. She is doing really well with: go in, better go, loose leash walking, recall when people and dogs are around.
