Blazer had a busy May, which ended with his neuter surgery, so the first week of June will be one of rest and recovery for him. Needless to say, he is no fan of the dreaded cone. He volunteered his abdomen for veterinary ultrasound teaching purposes at Riverbend Animal Hospital at the beginning of May and received a complimentary belly shaving for the occasion. The hair is coming back, but slowly and itchily. Blazer also had his annual eye exam and passed with no problem. He was, as always, an enthusiastic patient at all of his appointments.

Blazer and PADS Astro met up a couple of times in May. Once for a working date, where they practiced their skills walking together through the University District and ended with a trip to Monogram Coffee, where both boys were on their best behaviour even though all they longed to do was play. They had an opportunity to play later in May and pulled out all the stops, running through a field of dandelions with a variety of tug toys. No one plays as hard as the two of them!

On May 21, Blazer had his GDBART assessment where in true Blazer fashion, he had everyone suppressing laughter at his antics. While I’m not sure that his silliness level was part of the assessment, he demonstrated that he wasn’t afraid to try anything and that if there was a gold medal for enthusiasm, it would be his.

The last week of May brought some very hot days, and we set the sprinkler up for our presumably water-loving Labrador, only to have him run around the outer edges of the sprinkler trying to stay dry. I β€˜coaxed’ him into the sprinkler by throwing kibble into the spray, and he proved that he would do anything for kibble, even if it involved getting wet!
