Blue has continued to mature and thrive. She once again had a busy month of public access. Dr’s appointments, osteopath, chiropractor, church, restaurant lunches on the patio, hairdressers, and elementary school assembly.
Her most notable outings were an introduction to horses at the Thunderbird. She was unfazed and very curious. Followed by a by-invitation-only tour of a large sailboat and an even larger catamaran. The crew all enjoyed a ‘go say hi’ and she enjoyed being given permission to ‘look around’ and cued to perch and up.
Blue loves to meet up with her PADS friends at Derby Reach, Tynehead & Dogwood off-leash parks. Her too rough puppy place is being toned down as she is given the back off by older, mature dogs.
Blue loves to work/learn new cues and practise the ones she already knows well. This month she learned target and loves to have a particular flat stuffy that has a squeaker in it as her target. She plants her foot down quite firmly to make it squeak.
She had been taught to bump the string of bells attached to the patio door to request to be let out for BG. This smart girl has taken it up a notch. Recently, she indicated that she would really like to go out for a walk. I declined for the moment, so she went to the door and began to vigorously bump the bells. When I let her out (to BG), she went to the gate and stood there waiting for me. Yesterday I needed to go and do several errands very quickly. I left her with my husband. When she realized that I had left without her, she rang the bells with much determination to be let out. She went to sit by the garage door and waited until my husband called her in.
Blue is a delight to raise, and I look forward to ongoing progress.
