Hi friends!
March has been a pretty fun month! Of course, I’m still going to university lectures with my human every day. And as always, I’m a pro at sleeping right through them. I’ve enjoyed hanging out with my puppy friends on trails, at the beach and Campus Canines club events. We even had a special puppy class field trip to an ambulance station. I got to go into an ambulance and heard the loud sirens, and saw the flashing lights. It was pretty cool.
I have been accompanying my human to the aquatic centre and spin class, where I’ve gotten very good at settling on a tether. It was pretty interesting to settle right beside springboards that make loud noises when people dive off them, but I didn’t really care, and my human gave me some pets every once in a while. I have easily gotten used to settling at spin class as well, even with loud music and colourful lights. I don’t mind, I just nap or people-watch.
For St. Patrick’s Day, I got dressed up again. It seems I have a bandana for every holiday! I looked very cute.
I have also been hard at work promoting the Campus Canines gala by boothing with my human and some puppy friends. I hung out with Ivy at our first booth and got to practice being nice and calm while greeting people. I’ve come a long way with this skill and am getting pretty good at staying calm and keeping my attention on my human. I also got to booth with Puzzle, Rita, and Ivy at our second booth. It was fun, and I hope we convinced lots of people to come to our gala!
At the end of the month, I went to the Campus Canines gala that we were promoting at our booths! It was a fun night, and I got to watch a demonstration of service dog skills from PADS Texas and PADS Fiddle, who are in advanced training. I hope I get to learn those skills one day!
This month, I’ve had some important assessments for my future as a PADS dog! I did my final walk & talk, which was like a public access test, where I showed off my good-boy skills. I got the A+ stamp of approval from our cohort trainer. That means I have the skills and temperament to go into advanced training, so exciting! What’s also exciting is that I’m being assessed to be a breeding dog! I got to spend a day with PADS staff to do some assessments for that, and I’m a good candidate. But now comes a long wait to hear if I’m medically suited to being a breeding dog. Let’s hope that all works out so I can become a PADS dad! But if not, advanced training is very cool too, so either way, I’ll have some big life changes coming up in a few months!
