Hi everyone, Donner II is back again with another pupdate! This month, I got a better idea of what my life will look like and what the raisers are trying to tell me. It’s quite a task learning to speak human, but everyone is helping me learn. At the beginning of the month, a box arrived and inside was a little yellow dog. The people tell me that it’s a mini PADS Orion II, who was their last dog and now works as an AFD in a place called Manitoba. They always show me his and their other dog, PADS Roan’s photos, and they are my heroes and inspirations.
There is so much to see and learn about, so my new friend Kim offered me to join her dog walking pack! Appawrently, I didn’t have enough vaccines or something, so she carried me around in a backpack, how embarrassing! But it meant that I could watch all the dogs and see the forest.
My friend, released PADS Taj, got a new puppy, and my new best friend, PADS Blanco, and we’ve teamed up to learn together. We went to get our dog licenses (which doesn’t even allow me to drive!), went to brunch and got to help each other practice settling.
Speaking of other dogs, this month, I was reunited with my mum, PADS Birdie II, and my uncle Harley. My whelping home was next to a creek, and I was so excited to be back and wander around the water. The next week, I met my dad, PADS Goji, for the first time. He’s huge but was very gentle with me, and we were able to nap together. If I’m anything like my pawrents, I’ll be the smartest, coolest, biggest Labrador ever!
I went to two in-person puppy classes, where I got to see all the big dogs and practice walking, settling and sniffing. Sometimes, I even got to chew on my favourite thing ever, my yak! It looks like there is a lot for me to learn.
Another new discovery of mine is the dentist. Appawrently, people go to this place so other people can poke their teeth, I know, wild! Well, on my first visit, I was tired and found the whole situation to be strange and overwhelming. The second time I visited, I watched the strange procedure, listened to the noises, and slept through the rest. In conclusion, I like the dentist! My raiser says that’s good because I’ll be coming to lots of different appointments in puppy raising and as a working dog.
A couple of other things that happened were that I celebrated one of my raiser’s birthdays (and wasn’t offered any cake or given any gifts), went to this big store called IKEA (and wasn’t given a hotdog or even a meatball) and finished the month by getting vaccinated with Blanco (which means that I can go run around trails and doggy places next month!).
It seems like life will be busy and exciting, but if it’s anything like this last month, I’ll still be sleeping a lot. I’ll keep working hard, and I can’t wait to learn more!
