Hi, Everyone,

Is August over already?! Darn. I was really liking the summer routine of busy mornings and lazy afternoons. But I do NOT like the late-season wasps. They’ve gone all dopey and, if I hold too still, they think I’m a fluffy white flower – a sure sign, I’d say, that it’s time to pick up the pace.

August Theme: New friends & Happy Chances! Wesbrook Village at UBC is such a great training hub! I spent many happy mornings up there this month and shared magnificent impromptu moments with three very special people – a young Puppy Whisperer, a Beautiful Nana & a friendly RCMP Constable. Also, I attended a Rascal Tasting on Burrard, where I met the Happiest Host Ever and did some spiffy product perching. Thank you, New Friends, for moments to remember!

August Highlight: Teamwork! For starters, Favourite Person Susan & Tessa the Spaniel helped me work on my Greet and my No Greet. Now, that’s truly going the extra mile for an eager teenager! Then, there’s my Special Person, Benita. She was very busy this summer, Super-Sitting PADS pups (which is just so cool!) Nevertheless, she still made time to visit with me (heart emoji!) We worked together on Go In, Heels & Sides with a chair, LLWalking, polite Greetings… all the things! On top of that, my Raisers & I took a day trip out to visit my Sponsor, Lady Caroline. She was Super-Sitting PADS Picard at the time, so, wow, I had a playmate, peer, and mentor all rolled up in one! After a terrific tug session, we practiced our cues side by side. Then, we went to Heritage Park, did a few sniffs, and worked on dog distraction together. Just look at us cooling our jets! I can’t imagine PADS life without these Forever Friends.

Thank you so much for checking in on me! So, I did play at the ocean’s edge this month, but I can’t say I actually swam. That’s okay. There’s still time. Puppy Classes are back to full strength in a week or so. Plus, it’s nearly apple-picking season (and I love apples.) I’m sure the September stories will write themselves. Until then, beware the dopey wasps!
