Well, that’s a wrap on summer break! The human surprised me with not one but two PADS puppies to mentor for quick visits towards the end of summer. First, PADS Lylie came, and this was my first time sharing my human with a little pup. I will admit, I was super jealous at first. It was hard not to be the center of attention, but it’s important to practice turning-off and relaxing. Last week, a little outlaw, PADS Bonnie II, stopped by, and I showed the human how much I’ve learned from my last experience. I did much better at doing nothing. I played politely, had some good snuggles, and took turns doing training sessions.

When I wasn’t sharing my human, we focused on the basics. My trainer gave us some suggestions on walking more calmly, so we’ve been going to lots of local trails and parks. It’s a work in progress, but I promise I’m trying my best. Human says we need to go back to the basics in a lot of areas if we want to be successful in those hard moments.

If I were to sum up this summer break in a simple phrase, it would be “Oh Deer!” Not sure what the human was implying, I already know I’m a baby deer by name, but I heard it a lot.
