I kicked off the month of October by going out for dim sum to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, where I practiced settling politely under the table even though all the delicious smells made that very hard.
I also went to a Whitecaps game and worked on staying calm while tons of people said hi; I offered lots of love and comfort while my raisers answered questions about PADS and what I’m training to become.
This month, I got some new Benebones that I absolutely adore – they’re perfect for helping me work out stress and extra wiggles. I also spent a few days with a sitter while my raisers were away, and we had the best time exploring North Shore trails and visiting a retirement home (I definitely didn’t miss my raisers… okay, maybe a tiny bit).
Later in the month, I went to the PADS Halloween party dressed as a fairy; I hated wearing the wings, but I looked cute, and it was great service dog practice to tolerate silly outfits.
And to top it off, I got to go on my very first short run now that I’m old enough – I loved being able to go farther, get a little workout in, and feel the wind in my ears. Can’t wait for more adventures next month!

Bonus Pupdate:
Gem was with us for only a weekend. She was an incredible pup to have around. She came to my grandma’s care home, the grocery store, and we did a bunch of forest walks! For a 1-year-old, her demeanour and recall are amazing.
Gem had great loose leash walking and was a joy to have around. Looking forward to seeing her continued progress.
