Hello everyone,
Giorgio made some great strides this past month, learning to control his impulsive nature, checking in before going for something, and checking in when he wants something on the floor. So proud of him!
Giorgio is always a bundle of energy, with lots of bouncing, prancing and tossing toys around. When he would meet new people, he would be overly excited to get to know them, trying hard to lean against the person, give kisses, and wiggling; or even breaking form by going to visit without permission.
On April 12, Giorgio and I went to Calgary’s Pet Fest. The first exciting happening was being introduced to a horse. We were walking approximately 3 feet from the fence as this was his first interaction with a horse. We were keeping a respectful distance until the horse noticed Giorgio and walked about 15 feet to the fence to say hi to him. The horse stretched his neck over the fence, trying to reach Giorgio. They both got to do some sniffing; Giorgio went into a play bow, however at that point, some kids came to say hi to the horse, so we left.
Later, when it came time to be at the PADS booth, Giorgio started out rather excited. However, we changed his location to a quieter location alongside our RCMP facility dog, Calli. Giorgio just flipped a switch and was calm, lying down, allowing kids and adults to pet him. He did that for almost 2 hours. I decided to quit while it was good.
The next time Giorgio showed his maturity, we had workers in our home. Giorgio stayed in a down position within 6 feet of an open door while the workers went in and out of the house. (I was close by) He even fell asleep at one point.
We still have a way to go, but I am so proud of him!!!!
