On arrival at Calgary airport to collect Jonsie from George, it was instant. This is one huge bundle of rolls and fur and a face to squidge and adore.

With an overlap of two weeks with Valentino, I had my hands full, but Tino loved having a puppy and vice versa. Unfortunately, their shenanigans caused a cut on Jonsie’s face, which did require an emergency vet trip. Kaylie, caring for her own brood of puppies, was amazing and kept in touch a few times every day. Thankfully, we avoided antibiotics. It has healed very well.

Then transitioning from mum pup kibble to puppy Eukanuba was another obstacle and really upset poor Jonsie’s tummy. So poopy kennels, poopy puppy, poopy bedding, I became a laundrette for a good week. The switch to Gastro kibble seemed to do the trick until about three days in, when we had further issues.

Into isolation we went whilst a sample was tested, desperate to visit with our other dogs, we stuck it out, lots of snuggles and snoring, a clear rival to hubby’s snoring.

Ending on a positive note, we got the all clear, got 12-week vaccines, and have been out and about exploring and making up for lost time. Even took him out to brunch, and he was amazing, and slept the entire time (maybe luck).

Incredible little guy who sleeps through the night, and is an absolute delight. He can be laid back one minute and nuts the next. A little stubborn streak, which I learnt how to deal with from Valentino. I really look forward to seeing how our almost 30-pound Butterball Turkey develops. I like to think we travel the puppy raising journey together and teach one another new skills; it’s a partnership.
