With a roller coaster August, upset tummies, food changes, and lots of laundry, September has been amazing. Jonsie was a very privileged puppy to meet Royalty at Spruce Meadows. I was just praying he didn’t pee or poop, and other than being wiggly, he made it through.
I discovered early on in August that Jonsie is a nose surfer. Fall is not the best season to have a puppy who likes to nose surf, leaves, pine cones, berries, crab apples. He was taking me on nature walks, it felt like, so with a one-on-one with Stephanie and help with leash restraint, we reset our goals. Well, Jonsie sure was not happy about the new walk restraints. We had a few stand-offs, one he sat for about 15 minutes in protest, but finally gave in. The first full successful walk without pulling or attempting to sniff was the best feeling, puppy party on the porch. Today our walk was again brilliant, and we walked over two batches of squished berries and Jonsie did not attempt one sniff. Perseverance I know, will be required as he is not only stubborn but extremely smart. My challenge awaits, and success is the best feeling ever.
Jonsie also got to visit his first-ever school (The Alternative High School), where he was a huge hit.
Not bad for month 2, looking forward to planning more indoor visits in the future, whilst maintaining his leash walks, looking ahead and not nose to the ground.
