Marsh’s Marvellous Month of November

This month was the month that I was supposed to go into advanced training, but I didn’t. Instead, I had two more visits to the vet and am eagerly awaiting news about the results. For two weekends in a row, I spent time with a new advanced sitter who took me out and about and practiced her skills on me. Of course, the treats came more often than usual, and I was as charming as I could be. At the end of the month, I was sent to two new sitters and turned on the charm there too.

November is a special month, as we recognize Remembrance Day and honour those who serve for our country. One day, we went to the Coquitlam Legion, collected a pot of poppies and then stood in Safeway for over two hours chatting to customers and accepting monetary donations. There was a huge window with sunshine coming in, so I was more than happy to lie there for that length of time. On the 11th, we stood in the car park at Aldergrove Legion and watched the marching bands, and cadet parade and listened to speeches and poems. Due to the crowds, I couldn’t see much, but I did see a few dogs in the crowd, and the band was loud, so I didn’t miss much.

Little Cynder came to play for a few hours, and she was very sweet. I kept wanting her to chase me, and she tried to catch me, but I was too fast. Another day, Dolce came for a run in the garden. We played chase for a bit and then I was a bit annoying and had to go on my leash, but Dolce seemed to have fun. Queenie came again for a week, and I was such a good boy. I respected her space, and we had lots of fun in the garden, she was very slow and quiet in the house, so I had to be too. Queenie got taken out most days while I stayed home and then occasionally I went out, and Queenie stayed home, but she got to go on forest trails, and I didn’t. My raiser says I’m too sniffy these days to go on long off-leash trails so we have been doing mostly on-leash walks and a few very short off-leash scampers.

Picard and Dior met me at the mall, and I got to meet Santa. Other outings took me to garden centres to see Christmas displays, and grocery stores, and I went to work in hospice and met families and patients again. One lady turned 103, so I had to give her a birthday kiss on her hand.

It’s dark now in the evenings, and Christmas lights are popping up all around the neighbourhood, and I love that.
