We are thrilled to announce Maverick and his partner Diane as an Accredited Facility Dog team!

When asked about his impact on her school, Diane writes, “Maverick has filled so many roles in our class. He is a best friend and a peacemaker, bringing a sense of calm and fun to the students he works with. He helps to keep the problems small and is a perfect friend to help with co-regulation. Maverick spends time checking in with students in the morning to make plans for a successful day and to problem-solve any potential obstacles. I think he enjoys the cuddles just as much as the kids. It has been touching to see empathy growing in our room while students ensure he has a full water dish and self-monitor their noise level. Throughout the day, Maverick keeps students motivated to learn, and we have seen improvements in literacy skills already. In the short time, he has been at North Haven, he has reduced student anxiety, promoted positive moods, and increased a sense of community. Maverick has made me even more enthusiastic about my job, and I am so thankful to PADS for this heartening opportunity.”
