It was all fun & games till I went into heat, so this has NOT been an exciting month. It started off great with my first trip to Buntzen Lake, I had only ran on a beach before, at Buntzen I jumped in the water and found out I love swimming.

Mom kept saying “I know it’s close” so we packed in as much training in public as we could till “it” came and I started my heat, that meant no more big walks, absolutely no off leash and no public outings. Mom had taken me to the liquor store, Superstore & Bosley’s where I got a new toy for my awesome stand duration. We met a raiser from a different cohort with PADS Mickey for training at the mall. We walked side by side, did some duration work and settled at a table. Mickey got a little close near the end and thought I smelt pretty good, guess he was my heat detector as I went into heat 2 days later.

The first couple of days were fine, I didn’t have to wear any fancy pants. Mom says if I have to be in heat I might as well look cute, I think I’m rocking them.

Since I’m only able to go for short walks around the neighbourhood we’ve been working on all the skills we’ve learnt so far. Mom has really taken advantage of duration training, all around the house. While the weather was still warm we practiced “go in” mom sat in a lawn chair and I hung out underneath. Personally, I’m tired of being locked up and can’t wait to work on my skills outside the house and run on trails again.

Mom & dad went to Whistler, I was with sitter Suz and her released PADS dog, Shadow. We got along really well, it was nice to have a friend to play with.

Mom went to an in-person class without me and worked with my sister Daisy, how rude is that?? I’ll be back to class soon and have more to tell you next month.

Hugs,

Meadow
