Update:

“The Calgary Police Services Victim Assistance Support Team (VAST) is excited to welcome Const. Aaron Lang & Melon to the team!

Const. Lang has been with the CPS for 10 years, most recently serving with District 1.

Melon, a 2-year-old black Labrador retriever, joins the CPS from the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (@padsdogs), which has raised and trained him since he was 8 weeks old. Melon has completed his training journey and now starts his career as a Justice Facility Dog, alongside fellow PADS K9s Calibri (Cali) and Webber.

As members of VAST, they will be active in the community, providing comfort & support to victims of all ages who have witnessed or experienced traumatic incidents. You can expect to see them both out in the community, attending hospitals, courts, schools & non-profit organizations that assist victims.

Welcome to Const. Lang & Melon, and thank you to our partners at PADS for raising and training our incredible Justice Facility Dogs so they can go on to support victims in our community.

I am immensely grateful to everyone who contributes in big and small ways to get these dogs from puppy to working placement and beyond. I can truly say the PADS motto is real. They really are changing lives- one dog at a time. It is thanks to the PADS family and community that I have joy again. Watch for us – we will be the pair towing the sunshine after a storm!”
