This month was full of social events for me. What can I say, Iβm a booked and busy guy!
First, I attended a PADS event at a Vancouver Whitecaps game at BC Place. This was full of new challenges, like walking through the busy concourse with yummy food smells and lots of soccer fans. Plus, I had to maintain my cool while hanging out with some older PADS pups who were good role models for me! I also met tons of new people. Being the only young pup there made me quite popular, and I had a lineup of people just waiting to say βhiβ to me. All in all, it was a super fun experience, and my raisers tell me I exceeded their expectations. Next up was a PADS puppy raising info session to give prospective new raisers insight into what itβs like to raise a pup like me! My raiser did most of the talking while I worked on being cute and eating my stuffed Kong.
In honour of Remembrance Day, my raisers and I helped to raise funds for the Coquitlam Legionβs poppy fund, which helps to support PADS. We were positioned outside a grocery store, so I got to practice my settling skills in a new environment while lots of people went in and out of the store and came up to chat. With Christmas around the corner, I also attended two artisan craft fairs where I hung out under the table while my raiser and her raiser were busy selling handmade items. I also had my 4-month walk and talk assessment with my raisers and cohort trainer at the Home Depot. I got to show off my skills walking through a busy store and get up close with some holiday characters.
While it was a busy month, we made sure to break up the work with plenty of downtime and lots of fun as well, which included hitting the trails for the first time! We did lots of long-line practice to work on my recall and by the end of the month, I had my first off-leash trail walk. I had so much fun being free to roam and play with other dogs. I still stuck close to my raisers (I know where the snacks are!) and came back when they called me. I canβt wait to do more walks like this! I also met up with my sister Minnie for a training session and had some playtime. She let me play with her stuffed snake toy, and I had fun playing keep-away with her. I also spent a week with a sitter while my raisers took a vacation and enjoyed hanging with new people and playing with the pups in their neighbourhood.
Iβll check in next month with an update on my first holiday season!
