a hockey game of her middle human; a family dinner at a restaurant (1.5 hours); a bowling session of her youngest human’s hockey team; a training session of her youngest human participating in a relay around a lake; a cemetery (Terry Fox’s grave); walk and talk at a mall with her cohort trainer (needs to work on “settling”); a big FUN park (accompanied her younger humans on spring break; lots of blinking lights, funny sounds, running kids, merry-go-round, …)
socializing with non-PADS conspecifics/training:
met/walked past dogs of different breeds and sizes (confident ones – off-leash, suspicious ones – on leash) in a local dog park and at multiple walks on all sorts of trails
PADS dogs:
had a dog distraction training session on PADS campus with PADS Falkor (the dogs were rewarded with play time); met with brother PADS Arthur in an off-leash area in a big park; little PADS Kiara II visited her home (the dogs shared toys and water, practiced tethering, etc.); witnessed happy reunion of released PADS Peach II with her mother PADS service dog Freya II on an off-leash trail; had a meet-up with PADS Bee on a wonderful beach (driftwood, seaweeds, seashells, barnacles, … – scent heaven)
training:
practiced wearing sanitary pants (preparing for her first heat); practiced saying “go say hi” to her family member, then to mannequins at a store, and finally to a total stranger in a park; had a few zoom and in-person PADS classes (liked her fun noise/novelty party); started learning “foot on leash with pressure” cue (with no food in the process); works on duration/distance with basic behaviors
observations:
often stares at a dog’s reflection on the TV screen (began realizing that it is her?); very much liked prancing in the waters of a muddy dyke, a clear running river, a shallow lake; dug a couple of holes in the lawn (caching? foraging for grubs? lacking minerals?); birds evoke “weird” feelings in Minnie’s soul 🙂
