I started out this month attending two student engagement events with Campus Canines, meeting students from two different UBC Faculties โ€“ I always like these events where I get lots of attention! I continue to enjoy the spring weather with some longer walks in the forest, and I had a special meet-up in a park with some PADS released dogs โ€“ having 9 labs playing together made quite the impression!

Iโ€™ve started getting used to wearing booties so that my feet will be protected this summer when the pavement is really hot and in winter when the sidewalks have a lot of salt. They feel very funny on my feet now, which makes me walk funny, but after a bit more practice, they should be no problem.

My raiser and I evaluated my sit posture this month as part of PADS fitness month. I have pretty good posture – no sloppy sits for me!
Iโ€™ve been working on being happy with car rides and have made a lot of progress! I ended the month with a long car ride to the PADS campus where I showed off my car confidence, and then went on a special off-leash trail walk with my group trainer, my raiser, and PADS Draco.

Next month, Iโ€™ll be able to report on how I did with my Guide Dog Behavioral Assessment Test (GDbart) – hope it goes well!
