April sure was a busy month! We have enjoyed many days of beautiful spring weather for lots of outdoor time. Myra got to experience her first campfires, ferry rides for a trip to Pender Island, and horses – all of which got two paws up from this little keener. There were many training outings to get out and practice: taking a trip on the bus and skytrain, a few trips to the mall, various appointments, and, of course, going to the polls to vote.
She continues to be interested in everything that the world has to offer, but this curious girl keeps her composure and is so happy to train and practice her skills. We have been focusing on her heel and side cues, chin with movement and distraction, and her hind end movement (which is probably her favourite thing ever).
Training with distractions is important as the world is always changing – Myra went out for some training outings with other PADS pups (special shout out to PADS Meadow), living with a grandchild definitely adds distraction, and we hosted PADS advanced dog Nevada for a few days, which obviously was the best thing ever. A whole dog in the house all for her?!? Myra quickly learned that play time isn’t a given, and that sometimes you have to wait your turn to train. She picked up the routine fairly quickly, which is good, as next month we have a surprise in store for her!!!
