Myra continues to be a little keener with training – so much so that she went for two fun outings with her puppy class trainer. Looks like someone is hoping for extra credit! These types of opportunities are so great for getting our puppy out and about with other raisers and their pups. We get to work on our homework for the week, our LLW, and settling in public, with the added distraction of having another dog nearby. It’s harder than it sounds!
Myra worked a ton on her training this month. Lots of settling behaviours, like teaching her to put her chin on the ground and that when my foot is on her leash, that is her cue to relax and chill. She had a perfect chance to practice when I went to a group puzzle session at the library – she slept, and I got to work on a 6000-piece puzzle! We are working on her heels and sides, both with a perch pot and without. And Myra is a natural with her collar cues – she moves with just a feather touch!
There have been many nice, dry days here on the coast, which isn’t typical for January – we take advantage of every one and get out for fun walks on the dyke or the forest. Often, we invite other PADS friends, which is always a hit.
