January has been a whirlwind of new sights, sounds, and tail wags. Our condo transformed into a mini construction zone with workers and loud tools galore. Patty happily welcomed them all and snored away in the kennel, even through all the loud noises. She also enjoyed a walk around Ikea but sadly was not rewarded with any amazing meatballs. Her favourite moment of the month was probably her off-leash adventure, galloping through the forest with an older PADS mentor. After a bath, it was time to nap in front of the fireplace and get dry.

We went for an exciting field trip to Vancouver Aquarium, with lots of interesting smells and sights, but she was most excited to see the other PADS dogs, including her sister. The loud noises and special effects in the 4D theatre didn’t interfere with her short nap. She’s also taking more Skytrain and bus rides, which she handles very well, lying down between our feet and getting smiles from other passengers.

In February, we hope to focus on learning to settle more around the house or in public.
