T’was a month to celebrate superheroes and music!
PADS puppies and people were invited to watch the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra perform the score to the original Superman movie. The VSO were so excited to have the puppies in attendance that they rolled out the red carpet. Although Puzzle slept through most of the movie, he was inspired to fly!
The performance set the tone for the biggest event of the year: a week dedicated to superheroes at the Invictus Games, a competition for wounded, injured, and sick individuals who served their countries. PADS volunteers, clients, puppies-in-training, and working dogs were in attendance to raise awareness for the support that service dogs can provide. Puzzle didn’t understand why we spent most of the time trying to settle in such an exciting environment and why he couldn’t say hi to the other canines, but he practiced greeting a lot of people and got to unwind (or up-wind?) in the Rest Stop.
Sticking with the themes, we attended a performance of music from Zimbabwe at the library, returned to the VSO for a Boy Band Symphony, and went to the movies on a snowy afternoon. What choice did we have but to see Dog Man: Part Dog, Part Man, All Hero?
For all that hard work, Puzzle needed lots of play and rest. He enjoyed off-leash romps with friends, and when he was ready to sleep, he wasn’t afraid to ask for privacy.
