ABOUT PADS

PADS dogs are raised and trained on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

We acknowledge the importance of these lands and their history. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and to improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures.

We breed, raise and train fully certified assistance dogs. Our service (mobility & PTSD) and hearing dogs provide life-changing independence to those with disabilities. Our accredited facility dogs work with community professionals, such as teachers, RCMP and psychologists to help support healthy communities.

PADS is a fully accredited member of Assistance Dogs International.

Thanks to ANOTHER generous matching donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) - we're in the home stretch and have extended our giving deadline to Friday, September 6th so that more people can have their gift will be DOUBLED—to help twice as many people like Mary-Jo.

Mary-Jo’s resilience and strength is evident and the support that her "Angel" PADS Service Dog Scramble brings is life-changing. After a devastating skiing accident left her paralyzed from the neck down, Mary-Jo discovered a newfound strength and resilience with an assistance dog by her side.

“She keeps me safe…and the social aspect is remarkable. When you're paralyzed - it's an odd kind of thing - but for some reason people feel like they can't touch you. Like they might break you. An assistance dog provides that physical connection that I had lost.”

Beyond providing that social support, Angel practically supports Mary-Jo in her day to day life. When Mary-Jo drops her phone or a credit card, Angel is there and grabs it in seconds. When Mary-Jo gets fatigued or is in danger of falling from her wheelchair—Angel responds.

Today, Mary-Jo is thriving and works as a yoga teacher, therapist, and life coach. She was able to find life-changing independence and wellness with her PADS assistance dog.

All PADS dogs receive the best training possible, making an extraordinary difference in independence, mental health, and confidence. Your support helps train and match assistance dogs with people who need them most, empowering them to overcome challenges and live with independence.

Sadly, more than 530 people are waiting, right now, for their own "Angel" a PADS dog that will change their lives. The need is overwhelming, and we can’t do it without your support. Help us provide more service dogs. Time is running out. Donate now to have your donation DOUBLED!

Today, as we mark the recent anniversary of his crossing the rainbow bridge, we honour "King Caber", Canada’s first Justice Facility Dog and PADS legend. Throughout his time with Delta Police Victim Services, Caber touched more than 2,100 lives, offering support to victims of crime and trauma that extended well beyond the courtroom walls.

If you want a little piece of Caber magic to call your own, you can adopt his plush doppelgänger - all proceeds support raising, training, and placing more life-changing dogs just like Caber. 🐾💙

Another PADS legend has earned his wings - though many of us would argue that Hawk always had them. This angel of a dog has forever changed the Calgary community for the better and blazed a trail for all that have followed in his paw prints.

He will be deeply missed by his PADS village who loved him dearly and our thoughts go out to his CPS family - in particular his amazing handlers Darryl, Brent, Carol and Kathlynn. ❤
