Wow, December was such a busy and exciting month for me!!

I worked really hard on lots of my training cues, especially kennelling, going to my bed, and settling—both at home and out in public. I also practiced checking in with my raiser while playing with other dogs, which was a great challenge for me!

Speaking of playing… I got to have the BEST playdate EVER with my brother Jasper!!! We ran, we wrestled, we played, we zoomed, and then we played some more. It was AMAZING, and I was very tired after.

School was especially busy this month with December holiday activities. We had a special breakfast in our classroom with many visitors. This gave me lots of chances to practice calm behaviour in a stimulating environment with many smells and distractions. I did a great job settling quietly and showing polite manners, despite my nose being extremely interested in everything.

My raiser also took me to a fancy brunch where I got to meet Santa. I practiced settling for an extended period of time in a busy setting with food, people, and excitement all around me. I did very well—especially for being only 4 months old—and received lots of positive feedback on my behaviour. I remained on the floor the entire time, which I feel deserves recognition.

We’re on a two-week break from school and work now, which means… more time to nap! I spent the first week celebrating Christmas with my raiser. I got some presents and yummy treats (10/10, would recommend). The last week of December, I am staying in Vancouver with a sitter. They are taking me on lots of new adventures! I have to listen to new voices and follow new rules, which makes my brain grow! I’m having the BEST time and being such a good boy.

I’m really looking forward to January and getting back to my classes with Maraysha, as well as returning to school/work with my raiser. I can’t wait to see all my friends again—I bet all the kids and teachers miss me!

See you next month,

Riff 🐾
