It’s been an interesting month. Rimbey’s screening DNA test revealed a copy of the gene for copper toxicosis. The gene is common in Labs, and one copy does not mean that Rimbey will develop copper toxicosis in future. However, having the gene excludes her from the breeding program, so she was scheduled in late February for spay surgery. The day before her appointment, she began her second heat cycle, so her surgery will be postponed until 8-10 weeks after the bleeding stops.

When Rimbey nears her cycle, her energy level decreases and she is even more affectionate than usual. She likes to be constantly touching one or both of us.

Looking forward to a more energetic March when we drive with Rimbey to Sedona.
