Hello hoomans and fellow PADS mates,
April was a pretty pawsome month here in Kelowna.
First things first… Easter happened. I may or may not have been caught wearing bunny ears for some photos. I’m still deciding if this was dignified behaviour, but I had fun doing it. We also had a big Easter dinner with a house full of people, lots of smells and lots of belly rubs and pets.
This month, I’ve been working extra hard, polishing up all my cues and skills as I get ready for advanced training next month. I’ve been practicing settling at places like Starbucks and the mall. Starbucks was pretty great because it smelled like bacon sandwiches and cake pops. The mall, however, was basically just me lying there watching people walk by for what felt like 47 dog years. Still, I did a really good job staying calm and relaxed.
One of the highlights this month was going to another puppy party, this time with 10 current and former PADS dogs in training. It was AMAZING. We zoomed around, wrestled, played tug, I’m sure with all 10 dogs attached to one toy at the same time, and posed for some Instagram-worthy photos. It was chaos. Beautiful, furry chaos. Thanks, Val, for hosting the puppy parties. I will miss them dearly.
I also enjoyed some lovely walks downtown along the shores of Okanagan Lake and out on the pier. There were lots of people to watch, ducks to politely ignore, some strange creature called Ogopogo to admire and plenty of opportunities to practice my excellent leash manners.
This month, I made sure to squeeze in extra snuggles with my raisers. I know they’re going to miss me lots… and honestly, I’m going to miss them too. They’ve helped me grow from a tiny land shark puppy into the smart, hardworking, occasionally goofy dog I am today.
I’m also gonna miss all of my Okanagan PADS buddies that I got to see each week at puppy class. I love visiting each of them each week. You can all now relax as the ninja assassin has left the building.
My next big chapter starts in early May as I head off to advanced training. I’m excited (and maybe just a tiny bit nervous) to learn new skills and continue my journey toward hopefully being matched one day with a client so I can help support them in their day-to-day life. That’s my dream and why I’ve been working so hard each and every day. Hard work pays off.
Well, that’s all from me here in Kelowna. It’s been such a blast sharing my monthly pupdates with all of you. Hopefully, I’ll still get some computer privileges at advanced training so I can keep everyone updated once a month.
Until next time…
Skaha out.
