Hey everyone, it’s me, Skaha, checking in from Kelowna with my 15-month update.
December turned out to be a pretty great month for getting out and about, with daily neighbourhood walks every day. We lucked out with hardly any snow and temperatures that weren’t too rough, which meant lots of good sniffing weather. To top it off, my raiser knitted me my very own sweater, it’s both stylish and functional. I stayed warm, cozy, and very proud, strutting my stuff around the block.
Puppy class kept rolling along, seeing all my other PADS buddies and working hard on distractions, learning to step backwards onto a raised platform, and continuing to build up my other skills. It’s a lot of thinking for one dog brain, but I’m putting in the work, and it’s starting to click.
I also had a fun outing to the pet store this month, where I got to watch fish do their fishy thing and check out some other critters. While I was there, I even got a visit from Santa. I made sure to tell him how good I’ve been all year and how hard I’ve been working, and I may have politely requested a whole bunch of treats for Christmas. I think he understood the assignment.
This was my second Christmas, and wow, this one was way better than last year. I was pretty little back then, but now that I’m all grown up, I understand more about what’s going on. I fully embraced the holiday spirit this year. We went out into the forest to find a Christmas tree for the front deck, and I had an absolute blast zipping around, sniffing everything, and I made sure to supervise and make sure they picked out a great tree.
Before the big day, I even got a nice pre-Christmas bath, so I’d be squeaky clean and ready for company.
Christmas Day itself was pawsome. I got to open presents and was spoiled with new chew and play toys, and some very tasty treats. I did a great job showing patience, at least until the wrapping paper came off.
As we head into 2026, I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and all the best for the year ahead. I’m hoping this is the year I transition into advanced training and start discovering what path my future will take. Whatever comes next, I’m ready to keep learning, working hard, and wagging my tail along the way.
That’s it for me this month. Stay tuned for my first update of 2026. Skaha out.
