Hey hoomans, it’s me, Skaha, your favourite Labrador Retriever and Pacific Assistance Dog in training, checking in with my monthly update. I turned 5 months old in February, which means I’m basically a seasoned pro at this whole “growing up” thing.

Big news, my puppy teeth are gone! Yep, all those little razors fell out, and now I’ve got a full set of shiny, pearly white adult chompers. The tooth fairy must’ve been exhausted, but she left me some tasty chew treats that will help keep these new teeth looking fresh and clean for all my future photo ops.

This month, my raisers went on a trip, and while they were off doing whatever hoomans do on vacation, I got to stay with some amazing sitters. Even better, they have a former PADS dog named Magic. Let me tell you, Magic lives up to her name, and she’s a total superstar, and we had so much fun together. When we weren’t zooming around, we were snuggled up for some much-needed nap breaks—a true dream staycation.

Back at home and in puppy class, I’ve been levelling up my skills. I’m getting really solid at down duration, “go in,” and my recall commands (“here” and “this way”). My loose leash walking is getting really on point, and while out for those walks through the neighbourhood, I’m really working hard on controlling my excitement when I see other puppers.

Oh, and guess what? The snow is gone! Bye-bye, cold paws—hello, spring. I’ve already been hitting the trails for some long hikes, and I cannot wait for even more adventures as the weather gets warmer. Bring on the sunshine, fresh smells, and more amazing adventures.

Welp, that about wraps up the shortest month of the year. Until next time… Skaha out.
