Hey fur-friends, Skaha here with another tail-waggin’ update from Kelowna, BC! I’m now 9 months old, can you believe it? I’m starting to feel like a real grown-up doggo (well… kind of). This month was full of fun, new places, and a few “fancy pants” moments I’ll explain in a sec.

The month started off with me attending the Okanagan Pet Expo in Kelowna. PADS had a booth there showing off the program, and I helped by being my charming, adorable, totally distraction-trained self (okay, mostly). I met a bunch of new people, got lots of pets, and helped raise awareness about what service dogs like me are learning to do.

Then I had a super special outing to the University of British Columbia – Okanagan campus, where I watched my raiser’s son graduate. Big day! I was on my best behaviour and even snoozed through most of the ceremony.

This month, I also took a trip to Vancouver, where I had a few “firsts.” I rode the SkyTrain (zoom zoom!) and, while transiting through Waterfront Station, took time to snap a pic with a Rascal Beverages billboard—they’re one of PADS’ amazing sponsors. After that, I headed to the BC Lions home opener against the Edmonton Elks. At first, I was very concerned about lions and elk being in the same building… but turns out, it was just football. No wildlife, just me—the only actual animal in the stands. Bonus? I got my photo taken with the Grey Cup, and I looked fabulous.

This month I also got a new stuffy, a pirate chicken! I don’t know what it is about this toy, but I love it. It’s perfect for post-training playtime. I’ve also had a few playdates with a former PADS dog, which has been great for learning and letting loose a bit with a seasoned pro.

Now, real talk… I’m growing up, and that means my first heat is likely coming soon. So, my raisers have been helping me get used to these fancy pants (literally). I’ve been wearing them around the house, so when the time comes, I’ll be ready.

That wraps up another busy month in my life. I’ve got some photos from my adventures to share—hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making the memories.

Until next month…
Skaha out. Be kind, stay cool, and give your dog a belly rub for me.
